My Family Heirloom

Over this project, you will give a little insight into your family and their history. Most families have an heirloom of sorts; grandma's teapot, a locket, photo of dad's motorbike, a poem that mom wrote as a kid, your first trophy, your baby blanket or baby shoes, a hairbrush from 100 yrs back belonging to an ancestor, your first sports jersey, a stamp collection, a treasured carving or anything treasured. ie. A KEEPSAKE, SOUVENIR / MEMENTO, TRINKET or item of "special value" to you.

People have different definitions of the word "heirloom'. It could be something relatively new, or something passed through many generations.
What's your family heirloom? An item does not have to be worth lots of money to have value.

Get your parents' / guardians' permission to bring it to class to present. Maybe they'd like to come to class that day to watch your "fancy show & tell".

The presentation is 3 - 5 MINUTES IN LENGTH (not including Q & A time). (2 - 3 min.) for modified students on an IEP. Be prepared to answer questions from your audience.
If you can't bring it in, show us a photo please.

If you don't know much about it's PAST, talk about the PRESENT or FUTURE of this item.
Listed below are some sample questions.

This marking will be used.

What is it? Is it unique or special to you and why?

When is it from? When did your family get it? Give us the details. Research and include info that will engage the audience.

Where is it from? Was brought from another country?

Give an explanation of it's history.

Why is it important?

Where is it kept now? Who has it? Who will it be given to in the future? Etc...
